MORE ACTION AS A TEVA VOLUNTEER

You know, you don't have to be an avid adventure racer to be a part of the Teva Adventure Series. Every year we have an awesome band of volunteers who help us at events, and have almost as much fun as those taking part. So, if you're not quite ready for the full adventure, why not come along to the event as a volunteer to see what everyone's raving about!

All our volunteers receive a free Teva TShirt, goodie bag, a meal at the end of the day, and lots & lots of thanks.

We'd love you to be a part of the I2A team, so if you can help, why not drop us an email at info@in2adventure.com.au to register your interest.

WELCOME TO SUUNTO..... LEADERS IN NAVIGATION

In 2 Adventure, and the Teva Adventure Series are proud to welcome Suunto as partners of the Teva Adventure Series. The Teva Series incudes navigation and teams will require a compass for the event. So here's some info that might be helpful...

Suunto Field Compasses
Suunto field compasses are designed to withstand the most extreme conditions (-40°C to +60°C / -40°F to +140°F). As one of the world's leading compass manufacturers, Suunto's commitment to quality is the reason we choose the most durable materials and individually balance each compass by hand. All Suunto compasses are ergonomically designed and highly accurate.

Suunto A-30
User Friendly Recreational Compasses
The A-Range of recreational compasses is a series of handy, well designed, navigational aids which are assets in any environment. All four models in the series (A-10, A-20, A-30L and A-40) are compact, high-accuracy instruments made from durable, clear, scratch resistant acrylic that have been ergonomically designed to fit into the palm of your hand for optimum ease of use. These light-weight compasses feature a fixed declination correction scale as well as a patent-pending lanyard snap-lock enabling the compass to be easily detached from the lanyard.

Function of a Compass
The earth is like a huge magnet with two poles, the magnetic North Pole and the magnetic South Pole. Invisible magnetic lines of force connect these two poles, just like they do in case of a simple bar magnet. The thing that actually happens when the magnetic compass needle turns to point to north after shaking the compass is that it alings itself with the magnetic lines of force around the earth. This is the reason why we can always find the direction of north with our compass.

Anatomy of a Compass
1. Base plate
2. Luminous bezel
3. Fixed declination correction scale
4. Marker line
5. Directional arrow
6. Luminous marking
7. Triangular and circular holes for control marking
8. Map scales
9. Magnifying lens
10. Magnetic needle
11. Rotating capsule (oil filled) with graduation
12. North-South arrow and lines
13. Lanyard with snap-lock
14. Jewel bearing

AN ALL NEW ADVENTURE FROM CORPORATE EXPERIENCES... SEGWAYS!

CORPORATE & GROUP XPERIENCES ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE LATEST ADDITION TO THEIR RANGE OF UNIQUE AND EVER GROWING PORTFOLIO OF XPERIENCES.

SEGWAY 1800-SEGWAY XPERIENCES

THE ZEN OF SEGWAY

WELCOME TO THE VIRGIN ADVENTURE CLUB!

The Virgin Adventure Club is a feature in the Teva Adventure Series Newsletters aimed at providing our virgin adventurers with a few hints and tips that, as a first timer to the sport may help you along the way! This week we feature the MAP LEGEND & SYMBOLS

THE MAP LEGEND & SYMBOLS

A map is a graphic and symbolic representation of land as seen from above. Colours, numbers, contours and symbols give clues to the detail of the land.

The Legend
A map's legend outlines all of the important information provided on the map. The legend usually includes the maps symbols and the map scale.

An example of a legend is shown here.

Symbols
Symbols are the small pictures, dotted lines, thick lines, thin lines, different colour lines and different colours which represent the land shown on the map. Although a lot of the symbols may seem self explanatory, it's always a good idea to check the meaning of each symbol using the legend. CLICK HERE TO READ ON....
